I am downloading the Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 2.5 update and the Adobe Camera Raw 5.5 update. That’s 139MB + 83MB = 222MB across the Pacific Ocean to support a couple of new cameras (that I don’t have) and fix a couple of minor defects that I have never encountered.
Is it worth it, I ask myself? Lightroom is part of the core software that I’d find it hard to live without so I want to keep it current. I hope the update doesn’t break anything like my plugins.
I wonder how the Lightroom team decides what bugs to fix in a point release. The two bugs they chose seem minor.
My grumbles about the previous upgrades still apply. Adobe isn’t listening to me. 😦
See the Lightroom 2.5 release notes here.

As I expected the downloads of Lightroom 2.5 and ACR 5.5 hung. Thailand’s internet capacity is not good and we are having a slow night tonight. The updates can wait.

Lightroom 3 Beta says it needs ACR 5.5. I can’t see why given the small list of changes over the version I have. Very annoying.

I posted a query about my “ever changing status” (https://bkkphotographer.wordpress.com/2009/09/17/the-case-of-the-ever-changing-status/) to the official Lightroom Forum at http://forums.adobe.com/message/2391334#2391334.
It may be that the problem was “silently” fixed in LR 2.5 so I am trying the 139MB download again. It failed once already even though I got up early when the Thai internet is quiet.
