Photo Cheat Sheets

If cameras and accessories came with proper documentation Cheat Sheets wouldn’t be required. But I have never seen a good manufacturer’s camera manual – User Guide yet.

They are a boring list of feature descriptions without much consideration about how to use them to make pictures. I think the manufacturers are lazy – but maybe they want to leave space for third party publishers.

If I was in charge of a camera company I’d throw out all the manuals and write a task oriented guide showing off the features on the way. The functional descriptions could be in an appendix.

I think I know my way around my cameras well enough now that I do not need a cheat sheet. But I’d appreciate one for my Canon Speedlite 580EX I bought with the Canon EOS-30D in 2006. I only use it as a simple direct and bounce flash. It has loads of features I know nothing about. This company produces one.

If it’s well done it may be worth the money, but I am suspicious of paying US$7.95 + tax and shipping for a single laminated card.
