Nelso Blog: Testing the GPS in the Nikon Coolpix P6000. Verdict: Good enough

Nelso Blog: Testing the GPS in the Nikon Coolpix P6000. Verdict: Good enough.

This is an interesting blog from Prague on the Nikon Coolpix P6000’s GPS accuracy. I wrote about my experiences here.

I particularly liked the explanation of what the camera has to do if you move a long distance (find some new satellites) or don’t use the camera for a while (update some data tables).

Also interesting is that there IS some accuracy information available but the Nikon does not display it.

It also notes that sometimes Google Maps may be the problem. It isn’t wise to assume that the camera is always at fault.
