Handstrap for my Nikon Coolpix P6000

Nikon Coolpix P6000 Hand Strap

The camera only comes with a neck strap. I think it looks impossibly dweeby to carry a camera around your neck. It invites attention from tuk-tuk drivers offering ‘free’ city tours and the like. I prefer a hand strap like the one Sony provided for my old DSC-W35.

I have not found a suitable new hand strap in Bangkok so I used the one from the old camera. It is old and dirty, is the wrong colour and has a Sony logo. But it works and I am sticking with it until I see something better and more hi-so.

It’s operated for Bangkok Hospital by Bangkok Helicopter Services. I hope that it was saving someone’s life.

Exploring Thonburi

June 26, 2009

The Bangkok BTS Skytrain has extended the Silom Line over the Chao Praya River to two new stations in Thonburi.

I have made a couple of trips there to explore but the area around the new stations is pretty boring for me.

This article in the Bangkok post gives some ideas : Bangkok Post : Skytrain comes handy.

Next time I go I will find the King Taksin Monument.

How to Remember Your Passwords

Here’s a good summary of password management techniques from the NY Times recently (June 24th, 2009).

How to Securely Manage All Your Passwords – Gadgetwise Blog – NYTimes.com.

I use Password Safe and it has worked well for me. It is free and available at http://pwsafe.org/

I had an error when I opened my safe that is documented at http://sourceforge.net/forum/forum.php?thread_id=3231328&forum_id=134801

I downloaded the zipped distribution and had to find the DLL that is missing from the simple installer.

That was version 3.17. 3.18 is available now. I hope they fixed that simple packaging bug.
